Holly Schmidt
Since starting her dog training career 8 years ago as a CPT student, Holly has quickly vaulted herself to esteemed status. She has been CPT's Head Agility Trainer for the past 5 years and is considered one of the top agility trainers in Georgia as proven by her numerous successes both locally and nationally. Holly and her Toy Poodle, Pippin, have achieved their AKC Novice, Open, Excellent, and Masters Agility titles in both Standard and Jumpers classes. In the process, they have attained over 50 first place finishes. They are also titled in USDAA competition. In 2003, Holly and Pippin finished sixth in their height category in the AKC nationals held in Long Beach, California. Moreover, in 2004, Holly and Pippin achieved the prestigious Master Agility Championship (MACH). Pippin is the first MACH Toy Poodle in the state of Georgia. Pippin has also been the second ranked AKC Poodle nationally in combined rankings that include Standard, Miniature, and Toy sizes. Presently, Pippin is a MACH4 and is the #2 lifetime Toy Poodle in AKC agility rankings. To prove she is not just a one dog handler, Holly finished second in the 2007 AKC National Invitational with a Bichon Frise. Success seems to run in the family. Holly's daughter, Sierra, (who assists Holly in classes) along with her Bichon Frise, Balto, is a national caliber competitor who finished first in the 2006 AKC National Invitational and has finished second regionally in the Junior Division at the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge held at Disney's Wide World of Sports. The tournament was broadcast nationally during July 2004 on PAX. Holly has a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University emphasizing secondary education and math. Prior to working with CPT, Holly worked for 14 years teaching math at the junior high and high school levels. She is a marvelous and vibrant communicator who excels at explaining complex handling skills insightfully and joyfully so that both experienced and inexperienced students clearly understand and have a great time in class. Holly and Sierra teach agility classes and private lessons at CPT's Sandy Springs location.
